I am Ramapada Acharjee. My journey in astrology began in 1992, with lessons from my father and consultations with people who knew our family. In the early years, I also held a job. Saturdays and Sundays were devoted to astrology, and people came to our home to meet me.

In 1997, as my practice grew and balancing both responsibilities became difficult, I left employment to give my full working time to astrology. That decision grew out of several years of learning and practice.

My Family’s Journey from Noakhali to Kolkata

I was born into a Brahmin family. My grandfather, Mathura Mohan Acharjee, was a pandit. During the Noakhali riots of 1946, he left Noakhali and came to Kolkata before the Partition of India in 1947.

His journey is part of our family’s history and our connection with Kolkata. When I speak about my background, I remember both my grandfather and my father, whose teaching brought astrology into my own life.

My Father and First Teacher

My father, Kamakhya Charan Acharjee, was my first teacher in astrology. Learning from him was the beginning of a path that would eventually become my profession.

He passed away in 1993. After his death, I continued practising alongside my job. Neighbours and people who had consulted my father were among my earliest clients. They knew our family, and those personal connections helped my work become known.

Looking back, I remember a time when someone would ask a neighbour for an introduction or visit an astrologer they knew through the family. That was how my own practice began.

My Education and Working Life

I hold a B.Sc. from the University of Calcutta and a three-year diploma in computer software programming. I also worked at DCPL and Arambagh Hatcheries Pvt. Ltd, for approximately four years in total.

During those working years, I continued my astrology practice at home. I gave Saturdays and Sundays fully to consultations. For a while, I was able to manage both, but as the practice became more established, it became harder to give enough time to each.

In 1997, I decided to leave my job. Since then, astrology has been my full-time profession. My education, employment and traditional learning are all parts of the journey that brought me to this work.

Learning from Khitish Chandra Vidyaratna

Alongside my father, I also learned astrology from the late Khitish Chandra Vidyaratna. He lived in Gayeshpur, Kanchrapara, and held consultations at the Ratnagiri jewellery shop.

I remember him with respect and gratitude. An account of my learning would be incomplete without acknowledging him as well as my father.

My Teachers in Tantra

My learning in Tantra has involved several teachers. Among them are Gouranga Agamabagish of Kamrup Kamakhya and Anirban Banerjee, a Tantra practitioner from Tarapith. I spent approximately four years learning from these two teachers.

These relationships are an important part of my spiritual background. I remain grateful for the time spent learning from them and for the place their teaching has in my journey.

Consultations at Home and at M.P. Jewellers

In the environment I knew when I began, astrologers often consulted from their homes or sat at jewellery shops. Rented chambers and publicity photographs were much less prominent in my experience than they are today.

I also held consultations at M.P. Jewellers for a period. Eventually, I realised that the setting did not suit my personal preference, and I stopped sitting there.

Consultations at our home were a familiar part of my early practice. People found me through neighbours, my father’s clients and personal introductions.

A Personal Choice About Publicity

I have never paid to advertise my services on television. I had no wish to do so, and my family also discouraged it.

I was not comfortable posing for photographs or appearing in front of a camera. As a result, my earlier years were not documented as extensively as people often document their work today. Much of that period lives in personal memories rather than photographs.

I have also never bought a certificate or paid to purchase a prize. I want visitors to understand my background through a clear account of my education, teachers and years of practice. Where I share a certificate or recognition, its nature and source should be clear.

Experience Has Not Ended My Learning

Even now, when a client’s question seems particularly complex, I seek advice from other experienced astrologers and Tantra practitioners whom I know personally.

Over the decades, I have come to know many knowledgeable practitioners in different parts of India and maintained good relationships with them. I value being able to discuss a difficult subject with someone whose experience I respect.

For me, asking for another perspective is a natural part of continuing to learn. My years in this profession have given me experience, along with an appreciation of how much there is still to understand.

My practice includes Vedic astrology, palmistry, Kara-Kushti, kundali matching, numerology, Vastu and spiritual consultation.

Is Astrology Real or Fake? My Perspective

People sometimes ask me whether astrology is real or fake. For me, this question is closely connected with my family background, my teachers and the work I have practised since 1992.

I approach astrology as a traditional system of interpretation and spiritual guidance. My personal faith in this tradition does not mean that every prediction is certain or that every claim made in its name should be accepted without question.

I believe a practitioner should explain their background honestly, welcome questions and acknowledge the limits of a consultation. A title, certificate or photograph alone cannot establish the accuracy of someone’s guidance.

You are welcome to ask about my methods and experience before deciding to consult me. My aim is to offer a thoughtful interpretation while respecting your judgement and freedom to choose.

Bringing My Practice Online

For many years, people found me through neighbours, family connections and personal recommendations. As Google and social media became part of everyday life, the way people reached me gradually changed.

Developing this website has been a learning journey. Although I had studied computer software programming, presenting my own work online involved many things I had to learn over time.

My aim is simple: to share my background, explain my services and help you contact me with a clear understanding of what I offer.
